I was a busy boy this week-end producing a few really unique items that people have been asking for.

The first items worth looking at are the Batman Death in the Family series:

Joker Beats Robin

These wallet feature the last minutes in the life of Jason Todd. These are the products of a very controversial story line where DC fans were asked to decide the fate of the boy wonder. In case you didn’t know, it’s very evident from the layout above… he died.

I got my hands on a copy of issue 427, 428, and 429. So far I’ve only produced a pair of wallet from the series. More to follow.

Batman 427 wallet: Jason Todd in beaten by the Joker.

Batman 428 wallet: Batman find the body of Robin.

I finally released a pair of Deadpool wallets.

Deadpool Pose Down

These wallets feature Deadpool engaged in his normal random nuttiness. Some pancakes, some posing and an offer to join the X-men as a probationary member. Deadpool is hugely popular these days. I’m not expecting these items to last long on the store.

Finally I have a couple of the strangest pieces yet in the collection. Late last night I dug up a copy of Green Lantern Mosaic 2. This issue happens to feature one of the cutest members of the Green Lantern Corp last day in action. Take a look!

Green Lantern Ch'p

I made a couple different wallet from this series. One of them is not for the faint of heart.

Green Lantern Mosaic 2 Wallet: Ch’p get killed!

Green Lantern Mosaic 2 Wallet: Ch’p battles an energy creature.

So far that’s all I have for this week-end. Although I may get around to putting together a Silver Surfer Vol2 Issue 1 wallet and a Kamadi wallet before the day is done.

This wallet features a page from one of the most controversial comics in recent decades. This is the issue where the fate of Robin was decided by the readers. One issue earlier fans were asked to call special phone lines to vote for the life or death of the most unpopular Robins to ever wear the green underoos.

On a personal level I would have to say that I was deeply effected by this issue in particular. I had just read my first comic book a few months before and I was in the process of developing a full time comic habit. At the time I was focusing all of my energies on Spider-man and TMNT but due to a cash influx from a paper route I was looking to broaden my collection. The owner of the local shop kept reader copies of all new books in the back of his store for special customers and this particular issue was the first DC title I ever picked up. Seeing an actual plausible death including a corpse was a little more then I was comfortable with at the time. After that I became a die hard Marvel fan and never seriously looked at DC titles for at least 10 years.

Making this wallet I was reminded of the feelings I had reading the issue for the first time. Taken by itself I find it particularly moving and mature. The grotesque aspect of the whole thing is the fact that Jason’s death was not a story driven choice but a gimmick designed to boost readership. So as a child I was bothered by the death of a child. As an adult I am bothered by the fact that the whole reason for that child’s death was to improve the bottom line for the WB.

Either way it makes for a very emotional wallet. Look over the pictures and try to see it through the eyes of the 13 year old you might have been when this issue was published.

To buy this wallet (depending on availability) please check it out in the store: Batman 428 Wallet 1 Buy it now.
